We know for sure that the pandemic has changed our lives due to a number of reasons: Social distancing, use of facial masks, and much more flexible working. The new post-pandemic reality may mean the end of the open-floor office and in any case, it will signal the redesigning of office space. Of course, teleworking is becoming more and more the norm in many organizations due to the health protocols. Could that be a good thing? Last summer, for instance, many people I know, decided to work from their beach houses, or country cottages and they loved it. There are surveys indicating how employees are not ready yet to go back to the office, and that more than 65% are more satisfied working remotely, with only 17% wishing to return to the office full-time.
Now, imagine working, not only from home but from anywhere in the world. Could that be a sunny terrace overlooking a sensational beach on a Greek island or a cute café near Acropolis? Wherever there is an available connection, there can be a mobile office. With an estimated five million digital nomads globally, it seems that the pandemic has significantly increased the trend. Inevitably, working from home has become part and parcel of our daily lives, and many businesses now invest in connectivity and employ people who are not based in the same location.
Worldwide there are countries that aim at attracting young entrepreneurs and investors. Greece is one of them, and you could even benefit financially from such a decision (sea, sun, and fewer taxes). Moving your work or even part of your company in a country where the sun shines all year round, the climate is mild to warm, and the beaches are spectacular, sounds really alluring, doesn’t it? The invitation is open to anyone who wishes to move their working space, combining lovely weather, warm people, breathtaking nature, delicious food, and tax-relief benefits.
Next time you have to write that tiresome report or make that demanding business plan, imagine doing so while watching the sun diving in the Aegean sea or the Acropolis bathing in the bright Attica light. Be adventurous; consider making Greece your workspace and enjoy an extended vacation on the side.
