Last Monday, 23 July 2018, wildfires raged through popular resort areas, in regions Mati and Kineta, Attica Greece, leaving dead and injured people.
Strong winds drove wildfires across the villages, hills, and forests and lead to those devastating results. More than 300 firefighters were quickly mobilized to the area and started evacuating, and the fire was contained by Tuesday morning.
As Athens Walking Tours we were truly and deeply devastated by these events. We feel the need to congratulate the firefighters, emergency personnel and volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help save lives.
We will do our part as members of the community to help the people affected by this tragedy. We have already donated 5.000 euros to the Greek Red Cross, and additionally, we are going to donate 2% of the total earnings of our walking tours during July and August, and we are working closely with all the authorities to help as many victims as possible.
